Lyudmyla and David lost in two tie-breaks to Alexandra Panova (neutral status) and Yuki Bhambri (India) – 6:7 (2:7), 6:7 (4:7), reports Ukrinform.
Kichenok and Pell played together for the first time and spent almost two hours on the court.
This is the Ukrainian’s sixth appearance in the mixed doubles at Roland Garros, and her first opening-round loss.
